Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety. As Hawaii starts to ease COVID-19 stay-at-home restrictions, we will continue to make patient safety our top priority.
Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:
Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect. The check-in and check-out windows now have plexiglass partitions.
Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
We have always sanitized every room between patients, but we have increased our efforts by cleaning all touched surfaces including counter-tops, waiting room chairs and doorknobs between patients to keep everyone safe.
The waiting room and treatment rooms are equipped with HEPA air filtration units that filter the air 5 times every hour, in every room! Additionally, we have installed the OsoPure ADP-70 Air Disinfection Purifier that utilizes technology commonly used in hospital HVAC systems called Photocatalytic Oxidation.
For your convenience, we now have a 24/7 online scheduling service for your cleaning appointments.
We look forward to seeing you and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice.

Raena has a running joke with some of her patients that they would not be able to recognize her without her mask on and thus we decided we can’t give her true identity away (hence the masked picture). Raena grew up here on O’ahu and attended University of Hawai’i at Mānoa receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 1998. Raena joined this practice in 1999 with Dr. Tina Tom and is the foundation of our hygiene program. She believes that patient relationships are the key to great dental visits and understands and relates to those who are apprehensive about dentistry.
Raena is an active mom, volunteering in her spare time at school functions and is busy being the “Uber driver” of her three kids to all their sport and extracurricular activities.
Sherry grew up in Oregon and went to college at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, NV. She received her certificate in Dental Assisting in 1999. She moved to Honolulu, HI in August of 1999. Sherry has a passion helping and serving others and believes in providing the best possible experience for each patient by helping them feel comfortable in the dental chair. Sherry has been part of our team since 2013 with a year living in Oregon where she completed training in dental expanded functions and received a certificate in dental radiology. Sherry is glad to be back home in Hawai’i and with this great team.
In her spare time Sherry loves spending time with her two children outdoors, hiking and geocaching and cheering them on at soccer games.

She is happy to be a part of an amazing team that cares for each and every patient. It is with her friendly smile that you will be greeted when you walk in.
When not in the office, Bonnie loves spending time with her family and watching her grandkids.
"Dr. Takagi makes every visit worthwhile. I've been impressed with his knowledge, technical skills, and warm chair-side manner. He's the consummate professional but is also down-to-earth and practical, taking time to talk story without running behind, explaining things clearly and following through on his plans. His office is well-appointed and modern, with easy parking and great views of the Ko'olaus. His office staff are wonderful, too.
I appreciate the reminder texts about upcoming appointments
and they are flexible with rescheduling.
I recommend Dr. Takagi highly to friends and family."
Dr. Tim Stoddard
“Dr. Takagi is up-to-date with all the newest procedures and equipment in dental care--- he is very thorough, knowledgeable and really cares
about his patients.”
5 Stars! Two thumbs way up!
"When I first visited Dr. Takagi I knew I needed a couple cavities filled and was overdue on my teeth cleaning...I had been putting off both of these things because I historically hate going to the dentist. But finally I made an appointment with Dr. Takagi, who came recommended. I am so glad I did--he and his staff were kind, professional, and gentle in their work. Most notably, it was the least uncomfortable dental experience I've ever had. He was happy to talk through all of my questions with me beforehand, and both the teeth cleaning and fillings were a breeze. I will definitely be using Dr. Takagi for my dental needs from now on!"
